About me and my practice
The core of my practice is to offer you a confidential safe space where you feel supported, understood and respected without feeling judged. My aim is to support you while you explore whatever issues may be causing you distress.
As a Person-Centred counsellor I believe that a person has the ability to decide what is right and best for them, and by exploring our thoughts, feelings, emotions, and experiences and having a better understanding of them, gives us the tools we need to make positive changes. I feel strongly about helping you to strengthen your own ability to identify and implement solutions that are right for you so that you feel empowered and able to draw on your inner resources no longer needing me.
Experience
I have worked with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds with wide ranging issues, I started my career in Nursing 25 years ago and worked in a variety of specialities with adults with both physical illness and mental health issues. which led me to appreciate the benefit of good counselling and psychotherapy.
I worked with Leicester Women's Counselling Centre for many years working with girls and women who have experienced domestic abuse and sexual violence.
Along side my private practice i now work with First Step.
First Step is an organisation run for male survivors and their supporters of sexual abuse and rape.
I also have experience working with clients who have ADHD, i understand the difficulties this condition brings and work with clients in ways that makes sense to them, and according to their needs. I understand that ADHD brings

Initial Consultation
The first session we have together will be an assessment session, so may take a little longer than normal sessions usually about 1 hour.
During this session we will get to know each other a little and if you are comfortable to share I will ask you to tell me a little about your life and experiences. This will help me to formulate a plan of action as to how best I can help and support you while we work together.
This session is also an opportunity to experience what counselling might feel like and to see if you feel comfortable working with me. and of course there is no obligation to continue on to further sessions if for what ever reason you decide against counselling.
